The only Latin American tennis player in history to reach the semifinals in all the grand slam tournaments. Was world champion in Japan at age 14 and won the US Open in 1998. In 2005 he won the Masters Cup and in 2006 he reached the semi-finals in the Australian Open and the Madrid Open. He qualified directly for the Masters cup and reached the semi-finals. In 2007 he won his first Master series tournament, in Madrid, putting him in the Masters finals in Paris.
